We aim to see you quickly, with wait times typically under 15 minutes, and same-day diagnostic results so you’re not left waiting on answers. We also take the time to explain your care plan, not just treat you — our team is committed to answering any questions you may have along the way.

Some presentations, such as approved WorkSafe claimants and eligible DVA card holders, are likely to be funded by providers outside of Medicare and will not incur an out-of-pocket facility fee. Additionally, some Health Funds do refund facility fees, however it is dependent on the provider and claimant’s policy.

Yes. If you have a valid WorkSafe claim number, you won’t incur an out-of-pocket facility fee, and our team can help you and your employer with the claims process.

A booking is not required — Canberra Emergency Care Centre is a walk-in service. You don’t need a referral, and you don’t need private health insurance to attend. All patients are welcome.

Canberra Emergency Care Centre has a vast specialist referral network and can facilitate admissions into local public or private hospitals.

The Canberra Emergency Care Centre is equipped to assess and treat a wide range of conditions, including:

• Fractures, sprains and strains
• Sports and musculoskeletal injuries
• Minor head injuries and concussion
• Cuts, wounds and lacerations
• Burns and minor skin injuries
• Chest pain and palpitations
• Abdominal pain
• Back and neck pain
• Respiratory symptoms, cough, wheeze and shortness of breath
• Fever, viral illnesses and infections
• Urinary tract infections and other urinary symptoms
• Rashes, bites, stings and allergic reactions
• Dehydration and gastroenteritis
• Headache and migraine
• Early pregnancy concerns
• Paediatric illnesses and injuries
• Minor procedures, including wound closure, plastering and urgent investigations

The team at the Canberra Emergency Care Centre can diagnose and treat sports and musculoskeletal injuries, including fractures, sprains and soft tissue injuries.

On-site orthopaedic specialist support is available when required to assist with the assessment and management of more complex injuries.

Our team cares for patients of all ages, with a focus on recovery, function and a safe return to activity.

The Canberra Emergency Care Centre operates daily from 8am-8pm, 365 days a year.

There is a facility fee charged for attending the Canberra Emergency Care Centre. This fee covers the cost of using the emergency department, including facilities and support services.

The facility fee is $370 and is not covered by Medicare. For patients who are not eligible for Medicare, the facility fee to attend the Canberra Emergency Care Centre is $700.

Emergency doctors provide a separate medical service, which is bulk-billed to Medicare. The Canberra Emergency Care Centre processes this Medicare billing on behalf of the treating doctor.

Medicare-eligible patients can return to the Canberra Emergency Care Centre for the same condition within three days of their initial visit at no additional facility fee.

For patients who do not have access to Medicare, a $395 facility fee applies to return visits for the same condition within three days.

Standard items used during your care are included in your facility fee. Some items, such as complex dressings or medical aids including crutches, may incur an additional charge.

If you require imaging or pathology (including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound or blood tests), these are billed separately by external providers.
